Thank you for 475 signatures. We need to keep this momentum going.
Please continue share the petition with your neighbors and friends here in ABQ. You will have people try to discredit you as [REDACTED] from StrongTowns have been doing on Nextdoor and other social media platforms, but remember that they’re board members and their job is to quiet the opposition.
We do have our first small victory, in particular against Strongtowns ABQ who are pushing hard for Upzoning, and that’s thanks to you.
The City Development Ordinance updates (IDO) were open to comments. I went in and voiced the reason of opposition and posted 276 petition signatures from ABQ residents that we had at the time. In counting the comments on the amendments, StrongTowns even with their pre-made form submissions and list of signers, only had approximately 120 comments/signatures.
That means our voices outnumber them by more than two to one on the IDO comments for Environmental planning review. That is thanks to you!
But StrongTowns are still pushing hard for these changes and will likely declare the environmental review process a victory no matter what happens. The next step will be Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee hearings (I’ll keep you updated on that process).
This is why we need to keep pushing hard and get this petition to 1,000 Albuquerque residents or more. We are in an uphill battle and the only way to ensure victory is by voicing our opposition in large numbers.
Thank you, this wouldn’t be possible without your contributions!
