Stop the euthanasia of Thunder

Stop the euthanasia of Thunder
The Issue
My heart is shattered; my two beloved dogs, Thunder and Lightning, have been
deemed dangerous, and authorities have already taken Lightning from me,
ending his life. My remaining companion, Thunder, is slated to face the same
tragic fate, and in my attempts to save him, I have found myself behind bars –
punished instead of being heard, understood, and engaged with compassion.
A fully secure sanctuary is fighting to take Thunder, which has been endorsed by
7 PACFA non-profits, but Denver Animal Patrol won’t even consider the
sanctuary – but won’t provide a reason.
Across the country, countless dogs like Thunder are facing euthanasia without
considering alternatives like sanctuaries that are willing to provide safe homes
for them. Despite being labeled as dangerous, many of these dogs, like Thunder
and Lightning, have the potential to thrive in environments designed to cater to
their specific needs, under the supervision of experienced handlers.
Thousands of animals are put down every year due to tight regulations and a lack
of acceptance and initiative to explore sanctuaries as viable options. There exists
a network of sanctuaries ready to give these dogs a second chance, to rehabilitate
and provide them with a life filled with the care and love they deserve. Celebrated
institutions across the country advocate for these solutions – indicating that the
issue is not a lack of resources but a lack of initiative to utilize them effectively.
We are urging the authorities to reconsider their decision and explore alternate
possibilities that prioritize the well-being of dogs like Thunder. Establishing
collaborations with sanctuaries could create a pathway for many more dogs to
have hopeful futures instead of unjust and untimely ends.
Please stand with me by signing this petition to demand justice for Thunder and
to create awareness about the myriad of alternative solutions available, ensuring
that no dog ends its journey prematurely when it could be given a second chance
at life. Your signature can bring a voice to the voiceless, offering a fighting
chance not just for Thunder but for many others suffering the same fate. Thank
you for standing with us in this fight for compassion and change.
