The Issue

As tensions rise once again between India and Pakistan, we, the citizens of both nations and the global community, urge both governments to choose restraint over retaliation.

We call for immediate diplomatic engagement, a halt to military posturing, and renewed commitment to peace, justice, and human dignity. Sign this declaration if you believe that war is not the answer.

Joint Citizens’ Declaration for Peace and Restraint

We, the undersigned citizens, scholars, veterans, professionals, artists, students, and elders of India and Pakistan—and our friends around the world—unite in calling for peace.

We are deeply saddened by the recent violence in Pahalgam, and we condemn terrorism in all its forms. Yet we believe that war, retaliation, and further bloodshed will not bring justice—but only deepen wounds and delay peace.

We urge both governments to:

1. Avoid military escalation and exercise maximum restraint.

2. Commit to transparent investigations, not unilateral strikes.

3. Reopen diplomatic channels and reduce tensions at the Line of Control.

4. Strengthen civil society cooperation—through trade, tourism, academic, and cultural exchange.

5. Respect the rights and dignity of all civilians, regardless of nationality.

We believe:

Peace is a mark of strength, not weakness.

The future of South Asia lies not in conflict, but in shared prosperity and mutual respect.

The true enemies of both nations are poverty, extremism, and ignorance—not each other.

We therefore call on all those who believe in peace to sign this petition. Let us send a message of unity and wisdom to our leaders.

Let India and Pakistan show the world that we can rise above history and build a future worthy of our people.
