The Issue

We, the undersigned residents of Framingham and surrounding communities, strongly oppose the termination of Randy Alysworth from his position as Director of Elder Services,

And oppose the proposal to combine the leadership of Elder Services and the Framingham Public Library under a single director.

Framingham’s senior population deserves dedicated leadership and focused advocacy.

Elder Services  is a critical department serving vulnerable older adults, caregivers, families, and residents who depend on programs, transportation, social support, wellness services, outreach, and assistance navigating aging-related challenges.

We respectfully call upon the Mayor, City Council, and city leadership to:

1. Restore and retain a dedicated Director of Elder Services position.

2. Reject the proposed consolidation of Elder Services and Library leadership.

3. Engage residents, seniors, caregivers, and stakeholders in a transparent public discussion before making permanent structural changes affecting senior services.

Framingham must demonstrate that it values and respects its older residents and the essential services they rely upon.
