Stop the Disappearance of Family Dogs in Pender County, NC #KODAS LAW

Stop the Disappearance of Family Dogs in Pender County, NC #KODAS LAW
The Issue
In Pender County and surrounding areas of North Carolina, far too many family dogs have gone missing in a short amount of time. This is not coincidence. These are beloved family members — and we fear they are being stolen.
Among the missing are:
Koda – Reward: $6,000
Dottie – Reward: $5,000
Thor – Reward: $500
Marlo – Reward: $400
Duke, Lola, Bear, Yayo, Sissy, Willow, Fendi — and many more.
The heartbreak in our community is overwhelming. Children cry themselves to sleep missing their dogs. Families search daily. Thousands of dollars in rewards have been offered. But more dogs keep disappearing.
We cannot ignore the possibility of something more sinister: organized theft, resale, or even dog fighting. If we stay silent, more dogs will be taken, and more families will suffer.
What We Are Demanding:
An immediate, serious investigation by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding law enforcement.
Public awareness and media coverage from local and statewide news outlets.
Community vigilance — remember these faces, watch for these dogs, and report anything suspicious.
Adoption of Koda’s Law — a proposed ordinance that would:
Require mandatory microchip scanning at shelters, vets, rescues, groomers, and breeders.
Require law enforcement notification within 24 hours if a pet appears stolen.
Mandate a 48-hour hold to contact rightful owners.
Establish an Animal Welfare Task Force to investigate theft, trafficking, and dog fighting.
Our dogs are not “just pets.” They are family. If we cannot save our babies, we pray at least to protect future dogs from being taken.
Please sign and share this petition widely. Together, we can pressure officials and media to act.
👉 Don’t let our dogs’ disappearances be forgotten. Stand with us. Support #KodasLaw.
