Stop the destruction of Green Belt land in Awsworth

Stop the destruction of Green Belt land in Awsworth
The Issue
The peace and natural beauty of Awsworth are under imminent threat. Plans have been laid out to destroy precious Green Belt land right here in our community to make way for 150 acres (61 hectares) of industrial warehouses (that's 15 Giltbrook retail parks) some of the units will be 25 metres tall. This is not just an issue of development but one of our very quality of life.
(The planning application has now been submitted. Deadline for comments 20 March. See details of how to object below.)
The proposed units would bring in their wake a barrage of negative impacts:
1) Unbearable congestion and gridlock will soon become the norm, heavy traffic will rumble through our streets 24/7, and a significant increase in emissions will taint our fresh air. Our nights, once quiet and serene, will be haunted by the unavoidable rise in air, light, and noise pollution.
2) The destruction of an important ecological landscape—habitats for 4,855 protected species, including great crested newts, water vole, otter and bats. The Green Belt land also serves as a beloved space where many local residents walk and enjoy nature along public footpaths, offering a respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Perhaps most frustratingly, this development offers no definite benefit to our community. There is no guarantee of jobs being created and certainly no guarantee that any jobs that do materialize will go to those living locally. Instead of bringing prosperity, it threatens to undermine the character and livability of Awsworth, all for gains that remain nebulous at best.
In light of these looming threats, we must stand united against this destructive plan. Preserving Green Belt land is not just for the benefit of current residents but is a responsibility we have towards future generations. Our environment is an asset, one that needs careful nurturing rather than reckless exploitation.
