Stop the deportation of Shabar Jamaldini — protect his life
The Issue
I call on the UK Home Office, Peterborough Police and the responsible ministers to immediately halt any removal action against Mr Shabar Jamaldini (169 Reeves Way, Peterborough, PE1 5LY) and to grant an urgent temporary stay while his solicitor lodges a fresh asylum claim.
Mr Jamaldini is a peaceful political activist and an active member of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) — UK Cambridgeshire unit. Two days before his detention he attended a large rally in London condemning human rights abuses in Balochistan; the event was widely shared on social media and significantly increased his public visibility as an activist. Following the refusal of his initial asylum application Mr Jamaldini has consulted a solicitor who is preparing a fresh claim. He is currently detained at Peterborough Police Station after attending a routine signing appointment.
Deporting Mr Jamaldini to Pakistan would place him at immediate risk. There are repeated, well-documented cases of Baloch activists and dissidents being detained, forcibly disappeared, tortured or killed after being returned to Pakistan or handed over at airports. Independent media and human rights organisations have repeatedly reported cases where Baloch activists were detained after deportation and later went missing or were held incommunicado.
The human rights situation in Balochistan is currently severe. Paank (the human rights department associated with BNM) records hundreds of enforced disappearances and scores of extrajudicial killings in 2025 alone; these figures show the scale and immediacy of the threat that returned activists face.
The Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB) has documented repeated spikes in enforced disappearances, illegal detention and extrajudicial killings in recent months — this is not isolated, it is an ongoing pattern of state action that puts returning activists at extreme risk.
For these reasons I demand that the Home Office, Peterborough Police and relevant ministers:
• Immediately suspend any deportation or transfer of Mr Jamaldini.
• Grant a temporary stay or injunction until his solicitor can submit and the authorities can consider the fresh asylum claim.
• Ensure Mr Jamaldini has immediate and unfettered access to his legal representative and that his rights under UK and international law are upheld.
• Investigate past cases where Baloch activists were detained at airports or disappeared shortly after deportation, and publish the findings to ensure accountability.
I ask everyone who cares about human rights and the right to life to sign and share this petition. Public pressure and rapid political intervention can save a life.
