Petition Closed

Servicemembers sign up to put their lives on the line in defense of the United States of America. Veterans deserve respect and support for their willingness to take risks on behalf of the country.

But immigrant veterans are being deported from the adopted country they love, discarded after answering the call of duty.

Promises made that America would honor their service, provide a permanent home, and a path to citizenship, were utterly broken.

Tell Congress that our nation's veteran's deserve better, that all immigrant veteran's must be recognized as nationals of the United States, and to stop the deportation of veterans immediately.

Sign the petition to send a letter to your representatives and to the chairman of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans' Affairs.

Servicemembers sign up to put their lives on the line in defense of the United States of America. Veterans deserve respect and support for their willingness to take risks on behalf of the country. This is something all Americans can agree on.

By serving in the military, immigrant veterans become full Americans, whatever their legal status says, who offer permanent allegiance to the United States. But immigrant veterans are being deported from the adopted country they love, discarded after answering the call of duty. Promises made that America would honor their service, provide a permanent home, and a path to citizenship, were utterly broken.

I am appalled to learned of this unconscionable treatment of veterans, and urge you to take immediate steps to remedy the situation.

Veterans often suffer from PTSD, which makes it more likely like they will run into trouble with the law that can get them deported -- and many of this charges are minor offenses that are trumped up. Other veterans returned home from war to find deportation letters awaiting them. This is happening now: veterans are being deported on a regular basis. It is shameful to allow immigrants to provide much-needed military service, then discard them when their lives get tough.

Our nation's veteran's deserve better. All immigrant veteran's must be recognized as nationals of the United States, and to stop the deportation of veterans immediately.

Please call for an end to veteran deportations, and introduce a bill making immigrant veterans American non-citizen nationals, who owe permanent allegiance to America, and can always call it their home.
