There is a government plan to completely demolish the old Nurses' Quarters on Rock Road opposite the SGH, in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, in order to build a water retention pond for flood mitigation. The front part of the building can however be saved without impinging on the pond. The building dates back to the colonial era and holds many memories for the people of Sarawak as it housed nurses and nursing students from all over the state who served the population with dedication. 

The building is elegant and still structurally sound and can be repurposed for other usage, such as accommodation for visitors, space for activities of associations. The Sarawak Heritage Society is therefore soliciting your support to preserve the front element of the Nurses Quarters. It is part of our precious heritage which is disappearing rapidly. 

The demolition is imminent so we call on everyone who cares about our heritage to sign this petition which will be submitted to the Premier of Sarawak.
