After numerous meetings and discussions of options with the other stakeholders, SHS has received reassurance from government representatives that the Old Nurses Quarters will NOT be demolished to make way for a new building. Instead, the original buildings will be preserved and repurposed to house the Rumah Anjung Kasih, providing accommodation for families of SGH patients from outside Kuching. The SHS working committee has created two design options for the extension of the buildings, preserving the integrity of the buildings yet meeting the required specs, and will present them presently. The water retention pond will be built on land next to the Old Nurses' Quarters.
