The Issue

Stop the Pittsburg Technology Park and Support Community-Focused Development

Residents of Pittsburg are deeply concerned about the proposed Pittsburg Data Center planned for the former golf course property on Golf Club Road. While we understand the importance of economic development and technological growth, many community members believe this project does not reflect the long-term vision residents have for our city.

Pittsburg has made tremendous progress over the past several years by investing in housing, local businesses, parks, infrastructure, and projects that bring people together as a community. Many residents feel a large-scale data center is inconsistent with that progress and may permanently change the character of the area without providing meaningful long-term benefits to the people who live here.

Data centers are highly industrial facilities that require substantial energy infrastructure, backup power systems, substations, transmission lines, and large-scale utility support. Although the project has undergone environmental review and mitigation planning, residents still have concerns about increased industrialization, noise from cooling systems and equipment, visual impacts, strain on infrastructure, and the long-term environmental footprint associated with energy-intensive facilities.

Equally important, many residents question whether this valuable land could serve Pittsburg in a more community-centered way. Once developed into a data center, this space will likely never again be available for projects that directly benefit residents on a daily basis.

Instead of dedicating this property to a private data facility, Pittsburg should prioritize development that creates stronger community value, such as:

Parks and recreation spaces
Family-oriented amenities
Local small business opportunities
Mixed-use retail and dining
Community gathering spaces
Green and sustainable development
Projects that generate broader employment opportunities for residents
We believe Pittsburg deserves development that enhances quality of life, strengthens neighborhood identity, and keeps the city moving in a direction residents can actively enjoy and participate in.

This is not opposition to technology or progress. It is a call for thoughtful planning and responsible land use that reflects the priorities of the community.

We respectfully urge Pittsburg city leaders to reconsider the long-term impact of this project and explore alternative uses for this land that provide greater direct value to residents and future generations.

Join us in demanding that Pittsburg halt the proposed data center development and protect our community’s future. Our city deserves development that prioritizes residents, families, local businesses, and quality of life — not a massive industrial facility that offers limited community benefit while permanently changing the character of our city. Stand with us in calling for thoughtful, community-focused development that keeps Pittsburg moving forward, not backward.
