My sweet girl, Ishi, an Akita pup, is in the pound for the next several months until the upcoming court date/resolution of her case.

 

Please help!

 

The incident in question was after a cruciate operation, Ishi was on bedrest for 2 weeks and on a cocktail of medications. Her first walk to the corner of the street a greyhound walked up behind her and she was limited in space against the wall. She nipped the greyhound in a request for space. The greyhound had a laceration and went to the vet and was released the same day. All vet bills were paid immediately by me.

 

The owner of the greyhound reported Ishi and me to council. Local council have seized her, and sealed her documents. They want to classify her a Dangerous Dog (this is very restrictive) and it’s likely, if I contest it, that either the council or the court can order her termination. 

 

Legally, they are perfectly within their right to destroy Ishi.

The laws in Victoria, Australia are widely considered draconian. I am pulling out all the stops to try and save my girl!!!

 

She was incredibly vulnerable, under one year old (just a pup!), and on a cocktail of medication when the incident occurred. Ishi has been non-reactive to other dogs pre and post the incident. Shes also had a tonne of training since just to make extra sure! The other dog is great too :)
