Hello,
Thank you for your support in signing and sharing the petition. We are quickly approaching 500 signatures! It’s great to see so many people at QUT and in the Brisbane community support the right to education for everyone -- regardless of how much profit is generated from what students are learning.
What’s next?
This Thursday, the QUT Guild is hosting a forum for students and staff to discuss the Performing Arts department review and the cost-cutting at QUT. A series of cuts have already been made:
- a reduction in intercampus shuttle bus hours
- the pausing of enrolment for Dance
- the introduction of generalised first year courses called QUT You
- the Technical Production major whittled down to a minor
- all QUT Art Museum programming for 2025 has been cut
The details of the forum are Thursday 20 March 1PM at Z-301 QUT Gardens Point campus. I encourage you to come along to discuss what we can do to stand up for education rights at QUT. Students need to show our university that we don't want course cuts — we want high-quality education that doesn't put profits before students and staff. I also encourage anyone impacted by the review to contact me with any questions or information. You can reach me via education@qutguild.com
I hope to see you there!
Erin Milne
QUT Guild Education Officer
