Stop the Cruelty: Ban Harmful Octopus Farming While We Still Can

Stop the Cruelty: Ban Harmful Octopus Farming While We Still Can
The Issue
Octopuses are brilliant, sensitive creatures who can solve puzzles, use tools, and even recognize people. They are not seafood. They are sentient beings who feel pain, fear, and stress.
But a dangerous new industry wants to force them into dark, crowded tanks just to farm them for profit. These intelligent animals, who live alone in the wild and thrive in complex environments, would suffer immensely in captivity. It is heartbreaking, and we must stop it now.
Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Lisa Murkowski have introduced the OCTOPUS Act (S.1947) to ban commercial octopus farming in the United States and keep cruelly farmed octopus out of our country. This is our chance to stop suffering before it starts.
Octopus farming is not just cruel, it is also an environmental threat. These farms would pollute our oceans, harm marine life, and spread dangerous chemicals.
We have seen enough cruelty in factory farming. Let us not start a new chapter of pain.
Octopuses belong in the ocean, not on a factory farm.
Please sign this petition and urge Congress to pass the OCTOPUS Act. Together, we can protect these incredible animals from a life of misery.
