You don’t know it, but your aunt, your neighbor, or your best friend might be a sex worker. The point is, sex work is all around you and just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t!
Criminalising the sale of sex doesn’t make it disappear—it just pushes it into dangerous, hidden spaces where violence, exploitation, and stigma thrive. When sex work is treated as a crime, workers are less likely to seek help from the police when they experience violence, and they are forced to operate in riskier conditions just to survive. No one should have to choose between their safety and their livelihood.

By signing this petition, you’re standing up for basic human rights. Decriminalisation has been proven to reduce violence against sex workers, improve public health, and give workers the ability to advocate for themselves. It’s not about whether you personally support sex work—it’s about recognising that all people deserve dignity, protection, and the right to work without fear of criminalisation. Change starts with you. Sign the petition today.

The government claims that criminalizing the purchase of sex will protect sex workers—but they are lying. We’ve seen this before. Countries like France, Sweden, and Ireland have adopted the so-called Nordic Model, and the results are clear: more violence, more poverty, more deaths.

This law does not stop sex work—it only makes it more dangerous. When clients are criminalized, sex workers are forced into secrecy. Clients become more fearful of arrest, meaning they rush bookings, refuse to share identifying details, and demand more isolated locations. This strips us of the ability to screen for safety, making us far more vulnerable to violent predators who know we are now desperate for income and less able to call for help.

We will lose our ability to work safely. We will be pushed into unsafe environments, where our options are limited, and we are forced to take risks we otherwise wouldn’t.

The Nordic Model Makes Sex Work More Dangerous—This is Not Protection

Countries that have implemented this model have seen sex workers suffer more violence, face more housing instability, and have fewer options to leave the industry safely if they choose. In France, within just two years of adopting this model, a government report found that sex workers were:

• More likely to experience physical and sexual violence

• More likely to be homeless

• Less likely to report crimes to police because of fear of being penalized themselves

• Struggling with extreme poverty, as many clients stopped engaging out of fear, leaving workers with little or no income

When clients fear arrest, they become more erratic, more secretive, and more dangerous. Some refuse to share real names or book hotels in their own name, making it harder for us to track who we’re seeing. Others demand that we work in riskier locations—isolated places where we have no access to help if something goes wrong.

Trafficking victims also become harder to reach, as they are pushed further underground. Instead of offering real solutions, this model drives them deeper into exploitation.

The Government is Taking Away Our Livelihoods—Without a Safety Net

The government is pushing us into danger without any plan to support us. What happens when sex workers can’t make enough money to survive? What happens when the most marginalized among us—homeless workers, disabled workers, workers who have no other job options—are suddenly left with no income?

Do you think we’ll magically stop working? No. We’ll be forced into riskier situations. We’ll have to accept violent or dangerous clients. Some will end up on the streets. Others will be pushed into survival sex—exchanging sex just for a place to sleep or food to eat.

The government isn’t protecting us. They are making us more vulnerable.

We Demand Full Decriminalization—Not More Harm

If the government truly cared about sex workers, they would listen to us. Study after study has shown that full decriminalization—as seen in New Zealand—is the only model that actually improves safety and allows sex workers to report violence without fear.

Criminalizing clients means:

❌ More violence

❌ More homelessness

❌ More poverty

❌ Less access to protection

We refuse to be ignored. We refuse to be sacrificed
