The mass influx of illegal immigrants would put undue strain on our already struggling economy and resources. Our schools, hospitals, and other public services will be overwhelmed as none of these illegal immigrants will be paying taxes for the services they receive. It is proposed to convert the old Harrah’s Casino & Resort in Tunica into an Immigrant Care Facility to house thousands of minor illegal immigrants through a “private” entity funded by the government. This proposal would cause thousands of illegal immigrants to flood into NW Mississippi and drain our already scarce local resources. This strain on our local resources would eventually lead to our taxes being raised in both State and Local Governments.

This petition is to voice our, the legal citizens of the State of Mississippi and the surrounding communities, concern about the influx of illegal immigrants to an insecure facility in the Harrah’s Casino & Resort in Tunica, MS.

It has been proven that this mass influx of illegal immigrants has had devastating effects and consequences on the surrounding region through the rise in violent crimes and even more so on the increase of fentanyl related deaths.

While we as a community can empathize with the plight of the illegal immigrants wishing to better their life, we are a land of laws and those that wish to be a part of our communities must abide by those laws.

To the Honorable Governor Mr. Tate Reeves,

We the undersigned wish to oppose the conversion of the Harrah’s Casino & Resort in Tunica Mississippi into an illegal Immigrant Care Facility. This type of influx of illegal immigrants to our communities will cause undue harm and cause a serious decline in services to us, the legal citizens and tax paying people, Mississippi. This will not only affect those in the immediate vicinity of Tunica, but all of the state of Mississippi as these illegal immigrants will overwhelm or health and safety services.

We must protect our community from this overwhelming burden that could cripple our public services and increase taxes for hardworking residents. Sign this petition to oppose the conversion plan and safeguard Mississippi's future!
