Today, more and more of us are focusing on living healthier lifestyles. That includes making the switch from driving to active travel.
Active travel can come in many forms: walking, cycling, running, etc. It's a great form of exercise and has numerous health benefits. It also reduces our carbon footprint and helps reduce traffic congestion.
But here's the thing: building roads costs a lot of money. And rightly so – roads have to be built to high safety standards and with proper maintenance in mind. But there is a better alternative that needs to be given just as much (if not more) consideration: funding active travel instead of building roads.
Funding active travel would benefit everyone by reducing the need for expensive road-building projects and providing us all with accessible and affordable transportation options. Plus, it would encourage people to get out into nature and enjoy the outdoors while being physically active once again!
So let's redirect our resources away from costly road-building projects and towards funding active travel initiatives – for our own health, for the environment, and for future generations. Please write to the Secretary of State for Transport, Mark Harper, today and ask him to start taking Levelling Up and climate change seriously.
