In making its decision on the route of the controversial and environmental damaging Norwich Western Link Road Norfolk County Council undertook a series of studies and assessments designed to ensure the members of the Cabinet had before it a full and comprehensive picture of the probable impact of the road on the people and the environment.
The geographical boundaries for the environmental and impact assessments were however confined to the areas immediately around the proposed routes.
It has become clear that the unwanted road if it is ever built will create major headaches for a vast number Norfolk Parishes and their inhabitants and environment that fall outside the areas in which the impact studies were commissioned. In particular the assessments for the new link road did not into account the potential consequences for the rural roads south of the new A47. There is growing concern that the new road and how it links with the route through Honingham to Wymondham will become a rat run.
Those communities between Honingham, Barnham Broom, Kimberley, Carleton Forehoe and Wymondham will be most affected as lorries and cars head towards the A11 by the shortest route.
Norfolk County Council should be called to account for not looking at the wider issues associated with the construction of the road and how its positioning and the extra traffic it will inevitably create is likely to impact on villages and the wildlife outside the focus areas. This is of particular importance given the news that contacts have now been signed on the dualling of the A47 at the Easton Roundabout.
The proposed Wensum Link Road and its impact on roads throughout Norfolk is an ill thought and flawed project and must be stopped. Please sign the Petition to give your support: http://chng.it/99Bf7qpq
