The planned construction of a new Islamic center at the intersection of Alameda and 2nd Street in Albuquerque, New Mexico has become a matter of grave concern for many community members and others throughout ourstate. A growing number feel extremely uneasy about what this new development entails, particularly the potential promotion and teaching of Sharia Law and its contradiction of Western judicial principles, human rights norms, and gender equality standards.

Albuquerque has always been a melting pot of cultures and traditions, embracing diversity while maintaining a harmonious balance between various community groups. However, Islam is much more than a different kind of religious worship or culture. As required by its Koran, it is a supremacist, totalitarian political ideology that does not rest until it gains control over whole communities, cities and nations. Eventually, it requires all to submit to its ideology because Islam means "surrender".

According to Islamic scholar, Robert Spencer, since the time that Mohammad propagated his expansionist doctrine in the 7th century, Muslims have slaughtered over 300 million people in their relentless efforts to subjugate whole nations in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (History of Jihad, 2018). When Islam gets the upper hand through electing Muslims to political office and gradually introducing Sharia law, things can get violent and murderous as they have in other parts of the world where Muslims are now in control. Sharia law which they have tried to get established in 40 states contradicts the freedoms and human rights guaranteed in our U.S. Constitution. "Concerningly, prominent Muslims are now openly calling for the takeover of America as they get ready for an upcoming conference of the Islamic Society of North America: https://www.danielgreenfield.org/p/abdul-el-sayed-to-speak-at-conference

Muslims in America under the influence of such teaching have already been tried for acts of mass murder, thinking they were pleasing Allah, the moon god.

Women and girls are particularly vulnerable to Muslim men, some of whom think rape and abusing infidel women is permissible according to their religion. As many as a million women may have been raped by "grooming gangs" in the U.K. https://www.amazon.com/Holy-Hell-Islams-Infidels-Enable/dp/B0F2JFM1ZB/

Besides raising these more scary concerns about Islam and Sharia law that are so contrary to our societal values as Americans and can result in possible violence and death, the introduction of an Islamic center at this specific location raises questions about zoning, traffic congestion, noise levels, and the availability of resources.

Residents have voiced existing worries about the already overflowing traffic in the area, which could be exacerbated by frequent visits and events at a new Islamic center. Additionally, the site earmarked for
construction might not have the infrastructure to support such a large influx of people, not to mention possible increases in commercial activity in a mostly residential area.

We acknowledge and respect religious freedoms, which have always been a cornerstone of our society. However, proposing an Islamic center in the midst of these concerns without thorough public consultation and impact analysis undermines public confidence. As a community, we deserve a thorough debate on how new religious and cultural centers will integrate into our existing neighborhoods, honoring both tradition and progress.

Without such deeper consideration of such a course, we could be going down a dangerous and destructive path that we will all deeply regret someday. Therefore, we call on the county planners and local government officials to end or at least put a hold on the Islamic center construction project until a comprehensive review and public hearing can be conducted. This will ensure that the voices of all affected residents are heard, and any potential impacts are fully addressed.
