I'm a proud homeowner in Zachary, LA, where we've created a close-knit, community-oriented area. However, a proposed plan threatens the serenity and harmony of our neighborhood. A plan has been listed for the construction of a new apartment complex, Sherwood Park, encompassing 144 multi-family units, 6 residential buildings, and a clubhouse at 5300-5400 Lower Zachary Road.  We oppose further building of apartments and future  neighborhoods. 

Why are we anxious about this development? It impacts every aspect of our lives. From our school district burdened with increasing student numbers and recent negative exposure, to our already limited road and drainage systems expected to bear an increase in usage. This area tends to already flood due to poor drainage,etc. Also, there have been recent increases in crime in our community, including shootings and theft. Add to this a likely augmentation in our city, property taxes, and a potential decline in our property values, it's clear that this development will shake the foundation of our hard-built community. Also, there are multiple apartment complexes already in Zachary, which are never at full capacity. What we do NOT need is more residential properties. We could use added commercial growth and beautification of parks and downtown.

Zachary, LA is not just a place. It's our home. Let us ensure it remains peaceful and hospitable for every resident. I urge each one of you, my fellow citizens, to join me in sharing this concern. Together, let's make it clear that we oppose the construction of the new apartment complex on Lower Zachary Road as well as future residential communities. Please sign this petition.
