This area has always been a place where families come to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy rural living. Unfortunately, our way of life and the pristine condition of our environment are now being threatened by plans to build multiple data centers in our locality.

The personal impact of this development is profound and alarming. Many of us moved to Mustang Ridge specifically to avoid industrial noise and pollution, to enjoy wide-open spaces, and to raise our children in a healthy environment. The massive construction and subsequent operation of data centers would disrupt this peace and infringe on the values that drew us here.

Data centers, while essential for modern technological infrastructure, consume vast amounts of water and energy. According to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), data centers can consume as much water as a small city and require immense electricity, contributing significantly to carbon emissions. In Texas, where water scarcity is a real issue, diverting resources to power and cool these centers is both unsustainable and unwise.

Additionally, the noise pollution from the constant operation of cooling systems and generators would shatter the silence that Mustang Ridge residents treasure. Property values are likely to decline due to these industrial influences, affecting our investments and livelihoods.

Instead of allowing data centers to encroach upon our community, we propose that policymakers find alternative locations that are better suited to handle the infrastructural demands and environmental impacts of these facilities. They do not belong in residential areas like Mustang Ridge.
