AI data centers are rapidly taking over the rural areas across our country. North Carolina resources are in serious danger! 

Right now, data centers are expanding rapidly across North Carolina. Burke and Catawba county along with neighboring counties did not know much about Big Tech's entrance. They have done so quietly with the help of some elected officials but we still have enough to fight for! We can't allow them to consume and contaminant vast amounts of our water and drive up electricity costs. They are after the electricity and the water! We also need to protest their pollution to the air we breathe and stop them from running  24/7 (noise) frequencies that are harmful to our well being. Our communities (Burke and Catawba) are joining together with others across the state to call for an immediate stop, a moratorium, on AI data centers, for however long it takes to put real safeguards in place.

Lawmakers & Congress  do not fully understand yet how to regulate AI’s negative impacts because everything is moving too fast. The ones pushing these massive AI data centers seek to divide and conquer our small towns through political labels. They are doing everything possible to make this political. The TRUTH is We ALL need water, food, air and safety. PERIOD. This is a human rights issue. This is an environmental issue. Bipartisan legislation is needed to protect every community.  

We are signing this petition to send the message to Congress — both the House and Senate — to stop the construction and operation of AI data centers. To enable our local representatives to pass zoning restrictions and enforce regulations designed to address environmental concerns, noise levels, and energy consumption.

We sign this petition and support a proposal to pass a moratorium on AI data centers until Congress can  establish clear rules to protect communities, future generations, and the environment.

We call on Burke County Commissioners  and neighboring Catawba County Commissioners to do all they can in their power to stop more data centers in these counties.
