Stop the Common Core

The issue

The ‘new’ Adelaide University is further damaging the quality of student experiences with the introduction of the common core.

Adelaide University has replaced important classes with new interdisciplinary core subjects which will inevitably be vague, and a waste of student time and money, in order to accommodate all degrees.

They offer six knowledge areas to choose from, but in reality, only two are even developed enough for students to enroll in. Nearly all students will be mandated to take at least one common core class per year.

They have made it as difficult as possible to find information regarding these new mandatory courses because they are trying to hide how poorly planned and underdeveloped they are. This is how Adelaide University ‘defines’ the common core.

Adelaide University will not take notice without action. For a more direct impact and to demonstrate that you value a quality education:

-          Email the course director of your degree and complain about the common core. It is their job to support and represent your student experience. If enough voices speak out, someone will listen.

-          DO NOT ENROLL IN THE COMMON CORE! The most direct way to get Adelaide University’s attention is to stop giving them your money. Enroll in the classes you care about, not lazy cash grabs.

The common core is indicative of cost cutting measures and the watering down of our education. We cannot continue to allow Adelaide University to push profit over people.
