Stop the CMS ban on New Home Health & Hospice Providers

The Issue

Every family deserves access to quality home health and hospice care.

Right now, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has placed a nationwide moratorium-a freeze-on new home health and hospice providers enrolling in Medicare.

While fraud prevention matters, this blanket ban hurts far more than bad actors.

It hurts:

-Seniors wanting to age safely at home

-Families caring for loved ones with cancer, dementia or disabilities

-Rural communities already struggling to access care

-Patients waiting for hospice support during the hardest moments of life

America is aging rapidly. More than 10,000 Americans turn 65 every single day. Demand for home-based care is growing-not shrinking! Yet CMS is stopping new providers from opening, expanding and serving communities in need.

This means:

-Longer wait times for care

-Fewer choices for families

-Reduced competition and innovation

-Increased strain on already overwhelmed providers

-Less access in underserved and rural areas

Fraud should absolutely be stopped but punishing legitimate providers and limiting patient access nationwide is not the answer!

We are calling on CMS and federal leaders to:

-End the nationwide moratorium

-Target fraud directly instead of blocking legitimate care providers

-Protect patient access to home health and hospice services

-Support responsible growth in underserved communities

Healthcare should move closer to patients-not farther away.
