Stop the closure of Parkway Northwest High School

Stop the closure of Parkway Northwest High School
The Issue
Our small community at Parkway Northwest High School is more than just a place for academic pursuits; it's a robust support system where each student is embraced like family. Here, programs like Next Man Up and Men of Courage foster personal growth and courage. Through Dual Enrollment and Leadership Programs, students are afforded rare opportunities that nourish their academic paths. Initiatives such as GEAR Up, community service projects, and college and career readiness trips and fairs equip us with essential skills and experiences, fortifying our readiness for the world beyond graduation.
The proposed merger with Martin Luther King Jr. High School threatens to dismantle this special environment that many of us rely on for safety, support, and growth. The unique fabric of our school community, woven together with care and dedication, risks being torn apart. This significant shift would not only dilute our cherished school programs but also erase the intimate support network that makes Parkway Northwest stand out as a beacon of excellence and a model of success.
Parkway Northwest High School has consistently proven itself as a thriving educational environment. This is not just through academic metrics, but through the social and emotional well-being it fosters among its students. Losing our identity as a standalone institution would not just affect the current student body, but also future generations in our community who deserve the same opportunities we’ve had.
We urge the district leaders to reconsider the merger and allow Parkway Northwest to continue its legacy as an independent school. Our school's success is not just in the curriculum but in the community spirit and safety it provides. Let's preserve the integrity, support, and safety that are hallmarks of Parkway Northwest High School.
Join us in calling for district leaders to halt the merger process. Sign this petition to keep Parkway Northwest High School open and ensure it remains a pillar of our community.
