Sadly, Welwyn Hatfield Council has proposed closing down this beloved golf course to make way for new houses, a swimming pool, and a leisure centre. But do we really need these facilities?

Our town already boasts over five gyms, more than three soft play centres, and there's a swimming pool in Hatfield. These proposed developments are not only redundant; they threaten to erase the very things that make our community special. The golf course is a green haven that offers tremendous mental and physical health benefits to its users, benefits that far outweigh the introduction of yet another leisure facility.

Moreover, before any thoughts of adding houses should come into play, we should address a critical concern: our lack of a nearby hospital with an Accident & Emergency department. More houses mean more people, and more people require efficient access to essential healthcare services, something we currently lack. Until such vital infrastructure is addressed, planning more housing developments is reckless and unsustainable.

We must urge the Welwyn Hatfield Council to reconsider their plans. Instead of removing a cherished community resource, let's focus on improving what's already here and addressing the critical issues that truly matter to the residents.
