Stop The Closure of Kempton Park Racecourse

The Issue

It has been announced that The Jockey Club will close Kempton Park Racecourse to make way for 3000 new homes. This is outrageous.

The Jockey Club are putting aside 139 years of history and want to bulldoze through it. Racing fans around the world want to put a stop to this!

Kempton has been a place that has created so many wonderful memories for thousands of people; most memorable is the King George VI Chase, one of the highlights of the National Hunt Calendar and it plays an integral part to Boxing Day for many of us.

We have witnessed the likes of Pendil, Mandarin, Mill House, Arkle, Wayward Lad, One Man, Best Mate, plus 5 time winner Kauto Star and 4 time winner Desert Orchid. We would like to witness more amazing horses jump those fences and come home to that roar of the fans.

Desert Orchid has been buried there with a statue of him as well, yet they want to remove his remains and the statue, from where he has his greatest victories to place them at Sandown Park!!.

Kauto Star's Statue will also be removed.

This should not happen to this wonderful racecourse, keep our racing heritage, and a place we hold so dear.

Also the impact of the local area will have a detrimental effect. There isn't the infrastructure to support these extra homes, and the roads are already congested.
