After three weeks of public “consultation” meetings, parents, carers, and staff across Falkirk are left with more questions than answers — and sadly, even less trust in the process.
The final meeting last week was particularly disheartening. Rather than clarity, we heard confusion, dismissive comments about Support for Learning Assistants, inappropriate references to the “tricky behaviours” of our children and an admission that phasing out Enhanced Provision Units is part of the plan. Many parents walked out in protest — a clear sign of just how badly confidence has been eroded.
But despite the frustration, something powerful has happened. Our community has come together — united, determined, and louder than ever.
Over the past fortnight, we’ve been engaging directly with councillors, MSPs, and MPs to demand accountability and transparency. We’ve also been shining a national spotlight on Falkirk Council’s actions through Central FM, Forth FM, The Falkirk Herald, The Daily Mail, and now our third feature in The Herald — highlighting the growing concerns over this flawed consultation process.
On Friday 10th October, 10am at Falkirk Stadium, we’ll hold a peaceful but powerful demonstration to show just how much this matters.
And now, we’re so close to an incredible milestone — 5,000 signatures. Every name adds weight to our fight for fairness, honesty, and proper support for children with additional needs.
Please keep sharing, talking, and signing. Together, we are proving that when families, teachers, and allies stand together — we are impossible to ignore.
