Congratulations to everyone who supported our efforts to save Boots Chemist in Farncombe from closure. All the hard work has paid off and Boots have announced the the store will remain OPEN. Thanks to the online petition and the written petition totalling over 2200 signatures we have well and truly put Farncombe on the map and made our voices heard! Boots have released a statement acknowledging that the strong feedback from the local community was the reason for reversing their decision to close this branch. Boots Statement Below "Feedback from our local communities and patients is very important, and we will always listen We have looked again at some stores planned to close where there has been a strong feedback from the community. In the case of Farncombe, following a review, we have decided to keep our store open. All of our team members have been informed. We continuously evolve the shape of our store estate to make sure we have the right stores in the right places to best serve our communities." I must also thank our local MP Jeremy Hunt for taking on this issue amid his busy schedule as Chancellor and for holding two phone talks with the Boots CEO to discuss the matter. Penny Rivers, Mayor of Waverley also put in tremendous efforts in campaigning and bringing about the paper petition in stores. Most of all thank you to all the supporters who signed and spread the petition, without you we would not have garnered so much media interest and this victory would not have been possible.
