Dear Supporters, 

Unfortunately after all the work we did to push the Boots CEO to change his mind on the closure of our local Boots Chemist, the store will sadly close. 

I recently heard this sad news on social media and the date of closure will be the 21st of October 2023. 

The online petition and the written petition in stores totalled over 2200 signatures and I had hoped that with such a strong showing of support as well as our local MP taking two phone calls with the Boots CEO something positive may have come out of this. 

I sincerely hope that another pharmacy can take the place of Boots and serve this vital role to our community. Without Boots Chemist in Farncombe we will be left with even fewer pharmacies in Godalming and the strain on the remaining stores will be immense. 

A Boots spokesperson previously stated that all staff from affected closing down stores will be offered alternative roles. I will check with the staff to see if this has been the case for them. 

In the meantime I think we can be proud of the way we came together as a community to rally around our local pharmacy and I want to thank all of you for signing the petition and doing all you could to try to save our local chemist.
