Stop the city from shutting down live music at The Libertine
The Issue
Please...
As a local musician, The Libertine in San Luis Obispo has been a cornerstone for my growth and development. It has allowed me, and countless other artists, to share our music with the community, providing a rare and invaluable platform that's both financially rewarding and artistically fulfilling. This venue is much more than just a brewery; it's a vibrant hub for local artists, a meeting ground for creativity, and a testament to the power of live music.
They Communicate and Care
The Libertine stands out for its supportive management who are in constant communication with the artists, ensuring that every show is a collaborative success. Their fair pricing model makes music accessible to everyone, and they consistently champion our local music scene, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for both performers and patrons. Given the scarcity of mid-sized venues in San Luis Obispo, The Libertine fills a unique niche, enabling musicians to perform for decently sized audiences and to earn a fair living.
Come on SLO
It is troubling to learn that the city is considering shutting down live music events at The Libertine. Such a move would be disastrous not only for local musicians who rely on this venue for income and exposure but also for the community that thrives on the rich, cultural experiences it offers. This is the people's venue. Local musicians love this place. Locals love this place.
How to Move Forward
Instead of removing this vital piece of our community fabric, we urge the city to work alongside The Libertine to find a solution that satisfies regulatory concerns while preserving the venue's role in our music scene. This could involve scheduling adjustments, noise level management, or city-sponsored soundproofing initiatives that sustain our vibrant artistic culture without compromising city regulations.

Please join me in signing this petition to appeal to city authorities. Let them know how crucial The Libertine is to our community, and urge them to keep live music alive at this beloved venue. Together, we can ensure that the voices of our local musicians continue to echo through the heart of San Luis Obispo.
