Petition updateIt’s time to do away with harmful and polluting helicopter sightseeing tours.Helicopter Lobby feels problem has gone away due to huge drop in complaints

Stop NYC Tourist Helicopters
Dec 7, 2014
The evil unsympathetic lobbyist group [Eastern Region Helicopter Council] was recently quoted in a NJ.com story claiming "air tour helicopter complaint levels are down 80%."
Residents are tired of trying to file unanswered complaints, and empty complaints in which NYC Mayor de Blasio does nothing. He could require the industry to impose remediation tactics or he could be the progressive Mayor his campaign sold us on and simply bite the bullet and shut down the industry from flying out of any NYC heliport.
Following a recent meeting of elected officials:
Robert Gottheim, the district director for NY Senator Nadler, said that Mayor de Blasio heard their argument and understands that they want a ban on helicopter tours. However, there is no timetable for a resolution and the anti-helicopter group is in "wait and see" mode, Gottheim added.
The reason helicopter noise complaints are down is just as Senator Menendez told reporters during our last Press Conference, residents are tired of their complaints going unanswered, lack of any sort of response, lack of any noticeable difference. Plus, residents outside of New York City can not file noise complaints through NYC's 311 call system. Eastern Region Helicopter Council's bullcrap "Fly Neighborly" complaint system is unmanned, is unmonitored by an independent organization; hence no way of really knowing how many complaints are being received.
Step up your complaints and contact the FAA directly and your elected officials directly. Go to www.stopthechopnynj.org for contact details for NY and NJ city/state/county officials on both sides of the Hudson .
Plus:
TO REGISTER NOISE COMPLAINTS (YES, we know its a pain and a problem since the "fox is guarding the hen house" (Robert Grotell predominantly), BUT if we don't file complaints the the airport proponents say there is no problem because they have no complaints!
A less frustrating way than calling is to note the time, write an email and send to HTO@planenoise.com
