In the past few years, Electronic Devices have become an Integral part of High School Education. Our timetables, our emails, most of our Schoolwork and many other things. This is why it was a big shock when we, at Aberfoyle Park High School, received an email from our Principal, telling us we could no longer use our chargers at school unless they were tested and tagged.

At a glance, this seemed completely reasonable. Untested chargers can be a hazard to student safety, and you could still get them tested and tagged to be able to use them legally, or charge your Electronic Device at home before arriving at school. However, it costs money to get chargers tested and tagged, and it is Illegal for the school IT department to test and tag anything belonging to students. In addition, Electronic Devices lose battery capacity over time, so a Brand-New laptop may hold enough battery to last a full school day, but after a year it may hold much less. this makes device chargers an Absolute Necessity for most students. And since Most Families don't have infinite money and time to buy new laptops or laptop batteries or get chargers tested and tagged, this is an ENORMOUS PROBLEM.

I would like to stress that this is an AUSTRALIA-WIDE ISSUE, not just here at APHS. The Education Department is making it increasingly harder just to be a Student, which is literally the opposite of what they should be doing! Students all over Australia are being affected by this, and Teachers too. How are we to be expected to complete all our schoolwork when we can't even access it!?

WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS!!
