Stop The Chaos At Stag Meadow

Stop The Chaos At Stag Meadow
The Issue
We fully support the growth of Windsor and Eton Football Club and its role in promoting men’s, women’s, and youth football in our community. However, the proposal to replace the natural grass pitch at Stag Meadow with an artificial plastic pitch for constant commercial use is a serious threat to the local environment, wildlife, road safety, and residents’ well-being. This development, if approved, would cause significant harm and restrict access to the Stag Meadow, which is relied upon and loved by many locals.
The proposed installation of a 3G artificial plastic pitch by Windsor & Eton Football Club at Stag Meadow will mean the following:
o 69,000 square feet of green space to be bulldozed and replaced with a synthetic, polluting, non-recyclable plastic pitch, that has been banned in some European countries, adjacent to a site of special scientific interest.
o Extended use of night-time floodlights resulting in excessive light pollution, which has a detrimental effect on local wildlife and residents late into the night.
o The Stag Meadow pitch and facilities will be in use up14 hours a day, beyond 10pm, 7 days per week.
o There will be limited car parking for dog walkers and other visitors to The Great Park and the nearby cemetery as well as the possibility for future car parking restrictions implemented, with these users suffering the most.
o A significant increase of an estimated 280 cars a day will use the already congested slip road off St Leonards Rd, to get to Stag Meadow, which has an access ‘pinch point’ that is only wide enough for 1 car to pass.
o Significant increase in noise pollution from road traffic and use of the artificial surface.
o The change to continuous use of the football grounds effectively constitutes a change of use
This development isn’t just about football—it’s a blind and inconsiderate transformation into a commercial hub, prioritizing revenue over community needs. By signing this petition, you can help prevent the irreversible damage that would result from this over-development. Join us in protecting Stag Meadow and ensuring the future of this cherished space remains in harmony with the needs of, wildlife, nature and residents. Let’s stop the CHAOS before it begins.
