Stop the Cannabis Dispensary at Ogden & Dubois in Brookfield – Protect Our Homes, & Kids,

The Issue

Brookfield’s Village Board has already rejected one cannabis dispensary because residents didn’t want it in their backyard. Now they’re trying again—this time on the village-owned lot at Ogden Avenue and DuBois Boulevard, just 50 feet from homes, directly across from children at the Galloping Ghost Arcade and A Sound Education music school, and on the same block of our residential neighborhood. The last time the Board approved a dispensary on Ogden Avenue near the Village commercial center (east of this new proposal), the developer abandoned the project. That left a half-demolished commercial building that has been a major eyesore for years and remains in a state of demolition to this day. The potential impact on nearby homes, traffic, safety, and the family-oriented character of the neighborhood is not worth 3% taxes the village would collect from cannabis sales. Residents deserve a thoughtful, transparent process that fully weighs whether this benefit is worth the long-term effect on the community. If you believe this location is the wrong fit, please sign this petition and urge the Village Board to put residents first before moving forward. We’ve had enough of the traffic, litter, safety risks, and broken promises. Sign this petition to tell the Board: listen to South Side homeowners the same way you did before for the north side—stand with families, not big cannabis corporations.

The Brookfield Village Board is scheduled to consider this proposal at its committee of the whole meeting on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. This is an important opportunity for residents to speak up and ensure community voices are heard in any decision involving village-owned land. I hope to present a strong number of signatures before that meeting to show that neighbors want the board to slow down, listen carefully, and fully consider the long-term impact on this area. Even if the village receives a little extra tax revenue, many residents believe that amount does not outweigh the effect a dispensary could have on a family-oriented neighborhood. Please sign and share this petition today if you want the village to approach this decision with greater caution, transparency, and respect for the people who live nearby.

I hope we can present a large number of signatures to the board and show that families and kids are more important than greedy weed growers and sellers.

Please also email the Brookfield Village Board to share your view that a dispensary should not be located next to residential homes:
