The Issue

We, the undersigned, are local property owners and community members who are deeply concerned about the proposal for a quarry train that will operate on our properties and through our neighborhoods. This decision could have significant negative consequences for our lives, our land, and our community. We are requesting that the Surface Transportation Board (STB), and all other relevant regulatory bodies, reject this proposal and protect the rights and well-being of the local residents.

Key Points of Concern:

1. Property Rights and Safety:

• The proposed quarry train will run through properties that we own or lease, and we have not given consent for such an operation on our lands.

• This train will pose safety risks, including potential accidents, derailments, and fires, which could endanger the lives of our families and neighbors.

2. Environmental Impact:

• The noise, air pollution, and potential damage to local ecosystems will disrupt the surrounding environment and wildlife.

• The disruption of local roads and infrastructure will make our properties harder to access and decrease their overall value.

3. Economic Impact:

• The construction of a quarry train will negatively affect our property values and make it more difficult for us to use our land as we see fit.

• Furthermore, declining property values make it more challenging to sell in the future, putting our hard-earned investment at risk.

4. Quality of Life:

• The introduction of a quarry train will severely disrupt our peaceful, rural lifestyle, including constant noise, vibrations, and the constant movement of a 4-diesel-engine train.

• It will impact the well-being of our community members, particularly the elderly, children, and those with medical conditions sensitive to noise and vibrations.

Request:

We respectfully request that the Surface Transportation Board, and all relevant regulatory bodies, consider the concerns raised by the affected property owners and local community members. We ask that the STB, and all relevant regulatory bodies, deny approval for the proposed quarry train on our properties, in order to protect our rights, safety, environment, economy, and quality of life.

Conclusion:

The local property owners and residents who are directly impacted by this proposed quarry train urge the Surface Transportation Board, and all relevant regulatory bodies, to make a decision that prioritizes the well-being of our community over corporate interests. We deserve the right to maintain the peaceful and safe environment that we have worked hard to build.
