Dear Supporter

Wishing you all a Happy New Year where the BBC do not cut local Black and Asian radio shows.

Thank you for signing my petition. It is great to see that over 18000 of you have signed in support in such a short space of time.

Last week, Ed Adoo, BBC 3 Counties presenter announced he is quitting his job because of these proposed cuts. He said that he feels the BBC does not value black audiences.

The article in the link above,  refers to previous attempts to cut Black and Asian radio programmes including the Asian Network  and  the Dotun Adebayo show with campaigns against both  including ours for the latter, leading to u-turns by the BBC.

This demonstrates that campaigning can be successful, so I am seeking your support to grow our campaign.

There are various ways you can do this.

  • You can use our model letter here to write to your MP. We have included a link for you to find your MP if you don't  know who they are / how to contact them. Do feel free to adapt it to add the personal impacts on you any cuts would have.
  • Please also share our petition on  your social media platforms, using the hashtag: #StopBBCBlackAsianradiocuts
  • Most of the BBC radio Black and Asian radio presenters have a twitter account so you could also tweet them your support and let them know you signed this petition so they know they are not alone and have the support of communities and  listeners.
  • If you want to tag us too so we can repost /share, we are @baracuk on Twitter, @baracukoriginal on Instagram and BARAC UK on Facebook.

Thank you for your ongoing support for this campaign.

Warm Wishes

Zita
