Dear Supporters
Thank you to the almost 1000 of you who have signed my petition.
My apologies for the lack of contact recently due to being away in Kenya speaking at the Bandung Africa Climate Change and Environmental Justice conference.
The campaign and actions to keep up the pressure on the BBC have continued with 40 predominantly Black and Asian celebrities and high profile figures signing an open letter.
The letter initiated by Black Equity Organisation and headed by Diane Abott MP asks that the BBC do not reduce airtime hours and jobs associated with Black programming amongst other demands.
Read the open letter here:
I would also like to request that you write to your own MP and ask that they contact the BBC calling on them to halt any cuts to BBC black local radio shows.
I have posted a Model Letter you can use and adapt on our BARAC UK website here, including details of how to contact your MP;
Please ensure you include your full address with postcode in your letter as your MP will need this to confirm that you are their constituent.
Please continue to share this petition and update so we can build on signatures and grow the campaign.
For social media we are using the hashtag:
#StopBBCBlackAsianradiocuts
Many thanks for your support and actions for this campaign.
Kind Regards
Zita
