Petition updateStop the barbaric cruelty!EPA COMPLAINT MADE OVER HUNDREDS OF ROTTING BRUMBY CARCASSES IN "PRISTINE" PARKS

Carcasses of hundreds of Brumbies slaughtered in the pristine Victorian Alpine Park,  (in close proximity to  headwaters in Bogong High Plains near Mt Jim and in the Eastern Alps) have led to a formal complaint being lodged with EPA Victoria Chief Environmental Scientist,  over what is another of Parks Victoria  blatantly irresponsible behaviour which will lead to pollution.

Similarly, Brumbies shot in 2022 in Barmah National Park were left to rot in close proximity to waterways.

EPA should be prosecuting Parks Victoria.

We demand  Parks Victoria adopt responsible management that means abandoning  cruel and barbaric treatment of an iconic sentient creature.

We demand the State Government of Victroria  listen to their constituents.

In 2022 a Petition with nearly 200,000 signatures was served on the then Minister for Environment, opposing Brumbies being shot. Since then, Parks Victoria have abandoned rehoming, a priority of the (mis)management plan and blatantly slaughtered 40 bloodline descendants of War Horses in Bogong High Plains, and countless Heritage Brumbies in the Eastern Alps in absdnce of compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.  Allegations of aggravated cruelty have been made to RSPCA as a consequence with a request that Parks Victoria be prosecuted.

We ask the new Minister, Ingrid Stitt, to conduct her own enquiries and not be misled by advisers who are infiltrated by extremist elements.

What we  demand, is  the Labor Government  stop the atrocious plunder of Brumbies, conduct a population count using methodology that is suitable for moving animals,  and introduce  a Bill for sensible  Legislation, that can and will recognise the Heritage value of Brumbies, protect that value while respecting any possible (read impossible) damage to the Victorian Alpine Park and the Barmah National Park.

We believe the false claims of damage have been and continue to be engineered by unelected irrational extremist groups,  who want to remove any presence of  European settlement. This is simply not possible with well established infrastructure, mining and bicycle paths.  Nor does it respect families who have 7 generations in the high country and on the land and who paved the way, a history and connection to the land,  and Brumbies,  and pro Brumby Advocates who value the significant cultural and social history held by Brumbies in Australia.

The false claims are made while significant real pollution is allowed to take place.

We oppose the cruel and barbaric sacrifice of Brumbies to the whims of  unreasonable, unelected extremists.

The cruel and barbaric treatment of Brumbies is one thing, but the hundreds of rotting Brumby carcasses in close proxomity to headwaters,  is another indictment upon the mismanagement by Parks Victoria and a blatant slap in the face to the obvious insincere claims made by those who are  anti "colonial"

Years of unproven and false complaints over a few Brumbies allegededly damaging mosses and "fragile ecosystems" pales to insignificant when the rotting bodies of Heritage Brumbies strewn across the Victorian Alpine Park are giving rise to ecological infestation of a very serious nature.

Brumby carcasses are never collected, there are tens of reports of "Brumby graveyards" discovered in the Alpine Park.

Please join us at Brumby Action Group to voice your concerns, write to the new Minister for Environment and tell her what you think about the cruel shooting of Brumbies and the current environmental degradation occuring in the Victorian Alpine Park at the hands of Parks Victoria.
