Forebears of Brumbies, horses that were army remounts, served in the Boer War and in World Wars 1 and 2.
Recent Freedom of Information has revealed that descendants of the War horses that carry the bloodlines, now referred to as "Brumbies", have been trapped, shot and removed from the High Country in Victoria, mercilessly. Mares in foal, foals at foot, young colts and fillies, gunned down in bloody massacre. In some cases, roped by brumby runners to be hauled off to knackeries. Lucky ones (?) were removed to private homes to be "domesticated", losing their freedom forever.
We wish to see wild-living Brumbies for generations to come.
We rightfully and respectfully pay homage to soldiers who fought for this country and other countries, yet the desecration of bloodline descendants of Australian army remounts is unfathomable and unforgivable.
136,000 wild horses were sent overseas during World War 1 and only 1 horse returned.
Those wild horses that were sent to War ought be honoured. Bloodlines preserved and conserved.
They must be acknowledged for their Heritage value and the contribution they made to this country, with Legislation that will protect and conserve sustainable mobs of wild living brumbies for all future generations.
They must be respected and acknowledged.
Horses arrived in Australia with the First Fleets and contributed to the development of colonies, they hauled wood, they carried settlers on their backs and worked in the fields in agriculture and as stock horses.
Yet, State Governments now prefer to refer to those Brumbies as "feral", exaggerate population numbers and allege Brumbies cause damage. Which have both been strongly refuted by Brumby advocates. So why is this happening?
Follow the money trail. Whether because of tourist development or mining or other reasons. We are gathering Freedom of Information and will share our discoveries widely. Very soon. So easy to find a scapegoat, it seems.
Meanwhile, we ask our supporters to share this update widely as you ask for your friends and family to sign this growing Petition that is already reaching Change Org recognition for its volume. Share overseas so the world can see the base cruelty and attitude toward our precious Brumbies, by mindless and cruel Governments.
Brumbies of today, must be recognised for their long contribution in this country. Their presence in National Parks must be understood, the fact they have lived symbiotically and successfully with wildlife for 2.5 centuries must be acknowledged.
Detractors must learn to live with the past, not try to destroy it. The "woke brigade" must stop trying to demolish what our forebears created. We cannot achieve pre-colonization. We need to move forward with compassion and understanding.
We are proud to be Australians, and we are proud of our Brumbies and the contribution they made and make to this country.
Please visit Brumby Action Group facebook page and sign all Petitions and follow for the introduction of Legislation to acknowledge the Heritage value of Brumbies, preservation and conservation of wild-living sustainable mobs in all National Parks. The Brumbies need your voice!
