Australia-Wide Rallies oppose Barbaric Brumby Shooting by NSW Labor Government

Marilyn NuskeMelbourne, Australia
28 July 2026

There is a loud Australiawide opposition to the barbaric cruelty being imposed on Brumbies,  by the New South Wales Labor Government. Australians oppose barbaric cruelty toward our Brumbies and any animal.

Those responsible for the final decision are the Premier Chris Minns and Penny Sharpe Minister for Environment and Heritage.

Not only Brumby lovers are rallying across Australia, ordinary citizens are shocked and appalled, and support Brumbies living in our National Parks.

There is huge support from overseas, people who are abhorred by the treatment of our Heritage horses, the Brumby. People living overseas, including equine lovers,  are encouraged to call the Australian Embassy in their country to voice opposition to what is gross cruelty, as defined under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act in Australia.

Many overseas residents have said they will never again travel to Australia unless the barbaric shooting stops.

American film-maker Ashley Avis has just left Australia. Her visit was to bear witness to the gross cruelty and to film for her forthcoming documentary. She was literally brought to tears when she saw the mare with a gut full of bullets and her partially born foal, a baby.

There is nothing like this in any State  of  Australia or  internationally. save for the Guy Fawkes masssacre in New South Wales,  20 years ago.

The last aerial shooting in New South Wales was the Guy Fawkes Massacre, which led to aerial shooting being banned in New South Wales, because of its cruelty. The decision maker was prosectued for cruelty. Even the Minister for Environment, vowed during a Hansard reading for the Heritage Brumby Legislation, that if Labor was elected, there would never be any aerial shooting. Since then we b elieve her portfolio is now under the control of lobbyjists and non government organisations.

Sharpe has proven, never trust a Politician, it is under her watch that aerial shooting has been introduced. Aerial shooting, ground shooting and sending Brumbies, our Heritage horses recognised by Parliament as having Heritage value to Australia, have been sent to the slaughter house by Penny Sharpe and her team.

Its time we Australians stood up against this tyrrany, we oppose loudly the cruel barbaric treatment toward these sentient creatures the Australian Brumby, a part of heritage and culture.

There is no scientific evidence that has proven Brumbies cause damage, and no scientific evidence to prove that removing Brumbies will somehow save any endangered or threatened species.

In other words Brumbies are a pawn in a financial gain for the State of New South Wales by way of damage offsets paid by Hydro2, the failed Snowy Mountains project, to the State of New South Wales. The money paid to date we believe, is in the range of $92 million and unless National Parks and Wildlife Services, perform under the contractual agreement, the money may be retrieved by the Commonwealth, the owners of Hydro2.

Please, make your voice heard, if you have not already signed the Petition, do so today, and share widely in all Groups. Write to the Premier of New South Wales Chris Minns, and Minister for Environment Penny Sharpe, to voice your disgust
