Stop the authorisation of the UAP sending text messages

The issue

Clive Palmer and Craig Kelly of The United Australia Party (UAP) have sent approximately 12 million text messages to random Australian numbers.

Under the current Spam Act 2003, political parties are exempt from being considered spam in this context, provided their messages are not for commercial gain.

This petition seeks to amend the Spam Act 2003 to not permit the UAP or future political parties from sending unsolicited text messages to members of the Australian public.
