Article: Wilson offers insufficient solutions to traffic issues
This entire response from Mayor Wilson completely neglects the fact that arena visitors will be commuting from regions outside of DC where public transport is not a viable option. It sounds like he thinks everyone is commuting from areas where it’s easy to choose public transport over driving.
What about all the people coming from VA and regions further outside the metro line in surrounding areas and states?
This demonstrates:
- he is not grasping or accepting that most people will be using their vehicle to commute because public transport is not readily available nor a pragmatic method of transportation
- ignorant to the reality of just how small the roads, in and around, Potomac Yard / Del Ray are
- flagrant disregard for the negative impact of having tens of thousands of people driving to the site and what gridlock will do / the risks it will impose (people driving to get emergency care, simply trying to go out to dinner, take kids to sports practice, etc).
