NODAWAY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CONTACT INFO‼️: 660-582-5541 Growing up in Nodaway County has been an incredible experience; it's a place rich with agricultural roots and a vibrant community spirit fostered by hard-working individuals. For those of us who have called Maryville and the surrounding areas home, the idea of constructing a vast AI data center here feels like a betrayal of those values and the people who have nurtured this area. I have witnessed our community's growth since childhood, an accomplishment due to the dedication of local residents who have contributed to making Nodaway County what it is today.

The proposal to build a $4 billion AI data center south of Maryville seems daunting and unnecessary. While technological progress is essential, it must not overshadow the values and heritage of our community. Hyperscale facilities like the one proposed not only consume vast tracts of land—potentially disrupting local ecosystems—but also signify the interests of ultra-wealthy corporations over those of local populations. Allowing such a structure in our county sends a disheartening message that corporate power and profits are prioritized over the well-being of our agricultural and established way of life.

Moreover, though the facility plans to use its own power and recycled city wastewater, questions remain about the long-term sustainability and environmental impact. We must ask whether it's worth the risk to our water supply, soil health, and local economy. These are crucial resources for our farming community and cannot be jeopardized without thorough consideration. Our community deserves a voice in deciding significant changes that may alter our environment and way of life irreversibly.

We urge the Nodaway County Commissioners to reconsider this plan and focus on sustainable growth that prioritizes the community's heritage and environmental health. We must choose paths that uplift our local economy without compromising the natural and cultural resources that define us.

Join us in standing up for the future of Nodaway County—one that respects our past and looks optimistically to a future built on community values and sustainable development. Sign this petition to preserve the integrity and history of Nodaway County.
