I took the above picture of the field in question yesterday (4/29). Beautiful and rural, as it should be!
Hi Supporters / Team,
Another update to share with you all. I am glad to report that our efforts appear to be paying some very big dividends. Specifically, both the Planning Board as well as County Commissioners appear to be very engaged in hearing our compelling argument as to why this site is so wrong for what is being proposed by the Developer (fit within a rural community, water & sewer, safety, and environmental concerns, etc.). There is no doubt in my mind we can come out on top of this debate but... that is absolutely dependent on our, collectively, taking the time to reach out to our Commissioners. Again, they appear to very receptive to hearing our side! For those of you who have and continue to that work, thank you!! For those of you who have been unable to do so to date, WE NEED YOU. The completion of our effort / movement is dependent on YOU! Dependent above and beyond having signed this petition which, make no mistake, is largely why our voices are being heard loud and clear now. So, PLEASE - let's up our game by either calling the Commissioners (where possible) or by emailing them your concerns to the following:
Planning Board email Address (see below). Note, they will continue their deliberations in an attempt to break a current 5(in favor of) - 5(in opposition to) tie vote at a public meeting this Wednesday (5/3). If at all possible, PLEASE SHOW UP as we stand a very good chance of a majority of the Commissioners supporting our opposition!
Meeting Location: Whitted Human Services Building, Donna S. Baker Meeting Room at 300 W. Tryon Street, Hillsborough
Planning Board email: planningboard@orangecountync.gov
Board of County Commissioners (see below): Note, they will ultimately take the recommendations of the Planning Board from the 5/3 meeting (detailed above) and will hear public comment (currently planned for 5/16). This vote will ultimately determine the final outcome of this rezoning application request. The Board of County Commissioners can be reached as follows:
Orange County Board of Commissioners email: ocbocc@orangecountync.gov
Thank you all, spread the word and have a good one!
Matt
