Stop the 15% EU–USA Trade Tariff Deal – Europe Must Not Pay the Price

Il problema

Why this petition matters
A silent blow has been dealt to Europe’s economy. Behind closed doors, a deal was struck — and Europe will pay the price.

A major trade agreement has just been announced between the European Union and the United States, introducing a 15% average tariff on EU exports to the US. In return, US products will enter the European market with zero tariffs.

This deal affects over 70% of European exports, including machinery, vehicles, medical equipment, consumer goods, and high-value industrial components. Meanwhile, American products — including tech, energy, and agricultural goods — will enjoy full access to the EU market without restriction.

This is not fair trade — this is surrender. It’s an imbalanced, asymmetric agreement that places an unjust burden on European industries, workers, and taxpayers.

Why we must act
This agreement was negotiated without meaningful consultation of the European public, national parliaments, or industry stakeholders. It was framed as a diplomatic success, but in reality, it could severely harm:

 • Small and medium-sized European exporters

 • Jobs and supply chains across multiple sectors

 • The long-term economic sovereignty of the European Union

 • The democratic legitimacy of EU decision-making

We refuse to accept that deals of this magnitude are made without transparency, debate, or accountability. Europe must not be pushed into silence. We must speak up — now.

What we demand
We, the undersigned, call on EU leaders to:

 1. Publish the full legal text of the agreement immediately, in all official EU languages

 2. Ensure that the European Parliament holds a public debate and vote before any provisional enforcement

 3. Suspend the 15% tariff until a clear democratic mandate is obtained

 4. Commission a full, independent economic impact assessment, with focus on SMEs and export-dependent sectors

 5. Guarantee that any future trade deals involve consultation with national parliaments and civil society

 6. Reaffirm the EU’s commitment to balanced, reciprocal, and fair trade, to defend European jobs and strategic sectors

Who must act

 • Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission

 • Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President for Trade

 • Charles Michel, President of the European Council

 • Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament

 • Members of the European Parliament

 • National governments of the 27 EU Member States

This is not just a trade dispute — it’s about the kind of Europe we want.

We demand transparency. We demand fairness. We demand to be heard.

If you believe in a strong, democratic, and sovereign Europe, sign and share this petition today.
