To Meta (Facebook & Instagram)

We call on Meta to urgently investigate and ban accounts involved in Information Operations (IO) in Thailand.

Currently, there are large numbers of fake or coordinated Facebook accounts in Thailand used to attack political dissidents, student activists, journalists, and citizens through misinformation, harassment, and hate speech.

These accounts are often systematically created — using fake names, stolen profile pictures, copy-paste content, and coordinated commenting behavior — believed to be linked to state-backed or powerful interest groups.

Allowing these IO accounts to operate freely = allowing hate and falsehoods to take root in public discourse.

We demand that Meta:

Investigate and remove Facebook/Instagram accounts linked to state-backed IO in Thailand
Create easier and more effective reporting tools for Thai users to flag suspicious IO activity
Publicly release regular transparency reports about IO in Thailand
Facebook must take responsibility for how its platform is used to manipulate public opinion and suppress civil rights.
