Stop Teachers Striking and Neglecting Student Education
Stop Teachers Striking and Neglecting Student Education
The Issue
To whom it may concern,
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the recent decision of NEU members to go on strike, leading to the disruption of our children's education.
Whilst we respect the rights of teachers to advocate for their needs and concerns, we believe that this should not come at the expense of our children's education and well-being.
It is unacceptable that our children are being deprived of essential lessons and educational support due to the ongoing strike. Education is a fundamental right of every child, and it is the responsibility of teachers to ensure that this right is upheld without interruption.
We understand that teachers may have concerns regarding the review of their performance at work. However, we urge them to seek alternative means of addressing these issues that do not harm the education and future prospects of our children.
At its last inspection, King Solomon High School was judged to be ‘Requires Improvement’ by Ofsted, particularly around the quality of education. The new Headteacher has worked with experienced consultants to improve the quality of education across the school, not just for Ofsted, but for the benefit of students and the community. It is essential that the school improves to best serve its community – our children – and their teachers are at the very forefront of this change.
We call upon the relevant authorities, including the NEU, school leadership and local authority to take immediate action to resolve the impasse between teachers and their employers and call off the strike.
It is imperative that a fair and equitable resolution is reached as soon as possible to minimise the impact on student learning and academic progress especially with GCSE and A-Level examinations approaching.
In the meantime, we strongly urge the NEU members to reconsider their decision to strike and to prioritise the educational needs of our children above all else. Our children's future should not be sacrificed in order to satisfy the demands of a small handful of staff.
Our children have already suffered enough through the COVID pandemic and national teachers strikes just last year and everything they are experiencing is having an affect on their mental health and wellbeing.
We hereby demand that measures be taken to ensure that our children receive the quality education they deserve!
We thank you for your attention to this matter and trust that swift action will be taken to address our concerns.
