As a local resident for over 30 years and former Pupil of Lindley Infants, Lindley Junior School, Salendine Nook High School and Huddersfield New College, I have been dismayed along with local residents and Parents to hear accidents/near misses from speeding seems to have increased in our local area of Salendine Nook, Lindley, Mount, Birchencliffe, Marsh, Oakes & Quarmby. Sadly there has been a recent death on New Hey Road and I send my condolences. Local Parents also say they worry about their children walking to local schools. My friend and my former New College classmate Adam O’Toole who tragically died from a speeding motorist(Inquest) on New Hey Road whilst the careless driver spent 3 years on the run. I along with Adams Mum Beverley, local residents and Parents are calling to ensure more adequate local police resources are given to reduce speeding and we support Huddersfield Road Safety Charity Brake for more 20 Mph Zones, from local opinion such need is around local Schools and Residential areas.
