Councilmember Zak Schwank has proposed opening the emergency access road located behind the residences on Tulley Ranch Road for public use. However, the residents directly affected by this proposal were not given an adequate opportunity to voice their concerns or provide input on how this change would impact their daily lives, privacy, and safety, as well as the wellbeing of the wildlife that inhabits the Temecula Creek area.
The amount of untouched natural land in Temecula is steadily diminishing. Preserving these remaining spaces should be a priority, not an afterthought.

This proposal raises concerns that personal interests—such as recreational cycling—may be influencing decisions that significantly affect established neighborhoods.

Decisions of this magnitude should not be made by a small group of council members without meaningful community engagement. The voices of the hundreds of homeowners on the south side of Temecula Creek deserve to be heard and considered.
We urge our elected officials to advocate for all families in the community, not only those who share specific recreational interests.
